The areas near the Colosseum are subject to specific rules, valid from Monday to Sunday, that includes the need to purchase specific permits, as listed above:

A1 - 72 daily permits (36 available up to 1.30 pm and 36 available from 1.30 pm)

B1 - 190 daily permits (95 available up to 1.30 pm and 95 available from 1.30 pm)

B2 - 30 daily permits (15 available up to 1.30 pm and 15 available from 1.30 pm)

B3 - 100 daily permits (50 available up to 1.30 pm and 50 available from 1.30 pm)
-
B4 - 100 daily permits (50 available up to 1.30 pm and 50 available from 1.30 pm)
ATTENTION: Buses going to the Vatican City, by invitation of the Vicariate of Rome, will be allowed to move in the Vatican area without prior notice or permission. In the event of an inspection by authorities, it will be sufficient to show the invitation at the entrance.
Companies wanting to enter the A and B ZTL Bus Areas (only to reach the Vatican City without stopping or letting the passengers hop on and off the bus) must communicate, via mail, to Roma Servizi per la Mobilità s.r.l., the bus number plate attached to the invitation by the Vicariate of Rome.

How can it be requested?

online, if purchasing Daily Permits or Multi Entry Cards and paying via SEPA or credit card

At the three checkpoints (Aurelia, Ponte Mammolo e Laurentina) paying cash or with credit card
How long is it valid for?
The daily permit (including those permits purchased in a Multi Entry Card) is valid for a calendar day (12:01 am – 12:00 pm)
The Daily Permits and the Multi Entry Card are valid in the morning (up to 1:30 pm) and in the afternoon (from 1:30 pm). Each permit is associated with a parking area and with one or more areas used-for the hop-on-and-off passengers’ operations.
Outside the Vatican area, the permits follow the same rules valid for a common permit B: they allow stops in the authorized short, hourly and long term areas.
Can permit details be changed?
It is possible to change the details (terms of the authorization and vehicle registration) of a Multi Entry Card’s entry until 11.59 Pm of the day before the start of the service.
