Work has been completed on the bike lane between the Fl3 Gemelli railway station and the Mattia Battistini stop on the Metro A line.
The project is a 2900 metre-long connection to the Metro of the existing Monte Ciocci-Monte Mario bike and pedestrian lane constructed by Roma Servizi per la Mobilità.
The route runs along Via della Pineta Sacchetti, Via San Cleto Papa and Via Mattia Battistini with reserved one-way lanes reserved only on the section of Via della Pineta Sacchetti between Via Francesco Marconi and a two way bike lane on Via San Cleto Papa sevtion only. On the same Via della Pineta Sacchetti, during the works, given the high volume of traffic in the area, it was decided to reduce the width of the lane from 1.5 to 1 metre so as not to excessively reduce the space of the carriageway designated for vehicular flow.
The bike lane, along the entire route, is separated from road traffic by vulcanised rubber kerbs (resistant to impact and crushing by passing vehicles) or by cars parked on the specially designed in-line bays.
Thanks to the new infrastructure, it is now possible to reach the Mattia Battistini station of the Metro A directly from the Monte Ciocci-Monte Mario bike lane, providing a sustainable alternative for the daily commute of the area's inhabitants.
With regards to public transport, Via Mattia Battistini has been equipped with new bus stops with barriers, shelters and routes for the visually impaired.
