City council approves new bylaws for Roma Servizi per la Mobilità

Translated by V. Zelada.

Necessary step in merger with Roma Metropolitane

The City Council has approved the new bylaws of Roma Servizi per la Mobilità. "I would like to thank the majority and opposition councilors for the work carried out in the Chamber, which has enabled us to approve an important resolution that kicks off a fundamental administrative and corporate path to establish a company that will be the real operational brain of our city's mobility," said Mobility Councillor Eugenio Patanè in the Capitoline Assembly at the end of the Council Chamber session in which the resolution amending the statute of Roma Servizi per la Mobilità was approved. "This step," Patanè added, "represents the first phase of the process that will lead to the merger by incorporation of Roma Metropolitane into Roma Servizi per la Mobilità. With the amendments to the Statute, the functions of Roma Servizi per la Mobilità will be expanded to include the planning, design and implementation of metros and in general of rapid mass transport systems such as, for example, cable systems, corridors and public transport systems in their own seat such as trams." "In the next 20 years," Patanè concluded, "we have to carry out works worth 15 billion €: we aim, therefore, to have a strong structure that will guarantee the certainty of the future for the workers and the many professional skills today within Roma Metropolitane that will be able to manage all the orders that concern the infrastructures that are being planned today.
