Private Mobility.
Roma Capitale's Local Police have instituted new traffic regulations in the Foro Italico area during soccer matches and other major events hosted by the Olympic Stadium. All events held at the stadium are anticipated by a reorganization of the area's road system to ensure safety and greater fluidity of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The plan calls for freeing all areas surrounding the stadium from parked cars, relocating car and bus parking by placing them in Viale della XVII Olimpiade, Piazzale Clodio and Viale di Tor di Quinto, and allowing in Lungotevere Flaminio and Lungotevere Thaon de Revel with exclusive parking regulated by existing signs and no longer in the center of the roadway. Stop bans will also be instituted in Via Morra di Lavriano on both sides and in the parking area between Lungotevere Cadorna, Via dei Gladiatori and Via Prato Falcone (in the latter case except for mopeds and motorcycles). Other stop bans will affect Piazza Lauro de Bosis the parking areas in front of the swimming pool, University of Rome and in front of Coni. Additional stop bans will have to be observed on piazzale della Farnesina, via Alberto Blanc, via Tommaso Tittoni, via Paolo Boselli, viale della Macchia della Farnesina, piazzale Maresciallo Diaz (except for mopeds and motorcycles), the section of the Diaz riverfront between Ponte Duca d''Aosta and viale Antonino di San Giuliano, via Mario Toscano, via Contarini, largo Ferraris IV, viale and piazzale dello stadio Olimpico, lungotevere Cadorna, via Antonino di San Giuliano, via Giuseppe Volpi and via Colli della Farnesina (again, except for mopeds and motorcycles).
Under the new rules, the public can then reach the stadium in the following ways:
- by using public transportation, reinforced during events
- by approaching with motorcycles/bikes, then leaving them in the designated areas near the stadium
- leaving their cars in the regular parking lots or in the new decentralized areas assisted by stewards
- Holders of permits for people with disabilities can park as usual in Viale delle Olimpiadi/ Viale dei Gladiatori, or at the Stadio dei Marmi (via Nigra).
TOTAL COMPLIANCE WITH PROHIBITIONS
Unless you have a season ticket or hold a disabled permit, you can no longer park in the regular spots or in the designated off-center areas. Therefore, rows of cars or motorcycles are no longer tolerated in the centerline and middle of the streets, on the Lungotevere near the stadium, as well as but also on the opposite side of Ponte Duca D'Aosta (Lungotevere Flaminio, Lungotevere Thaon di Ravel, Lungotevere Salvo D'Acquisto to Ponte Milvio). No second row parking or dangerous roadway reductions are tolerated.
AREAS FOR MOTORCYCLES AND CARS: THE DECENTRALIZED PARKING LOTS
Motorcycles and bicycles can park near the stadium, but not "wherever": they can park only in the areas planned on an experimental basis, namely: via Contarini, via Toscano, viale Maresciallo Giardino and via Morra di Lavriano. For cars, 3 parking areas have been identified, delocalized with respect to the stadium, also considered an extension of the reserved area of the Olympic Stadium, manned by stewards, from where fans can reach the stadium on foot or by public transportation. The areas are:
- Piazzale Clodio
- Viale XVII Olimpiade (Flaminia/Auditorium area)
- Viale Tor di Quinto (close to Salvo D'Acquisto’s barracks)
