[Legal Notice] Changes to Google Maps Platform Data Privacy Terms for US and UK users

status: 1 Hello Google Maps Customer, We’re writing to let you know we updated our Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms for Google Maps Platform on January 23, 2023. What do you need to know? The updates to our Protection Terms are the result of the adoption by the UK of the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) Addendum[1] and changes to several US state’s privacy laws. You can review the specific updates to each country below: - For the US: - We added a US State Privacy Laws Addendum[2] to the Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms[3] to support data protection laws in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia. - The US State Privacy Laws Addendum has replaced the previous CCPA Addendum (which only applied to California) as of January 1, 2023. - For the UK: - From March 2022, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) Addendum allows the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to be used for transfers of personal data under the UK GDPR. - We removed the previously required UK specific Standard Contractual Clauses as they are no longer necessary. - You can review Google Maps Platform’s SCCs[4]. These updates won’t affect your use of other Google products or services as they will only apply to Google Maps Platform. What do you need to do? No action is required on your part. We’re here to help If you have any questions or concerns about this update, please contact Google Maps Platform Support[5]. Thanks for choosing Google Maps Platform. –The Google Maps Platform Team [1] https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/international-data-transfer-agreement-and-guidance/ [2] https://business.safety.google/controllerterms/us-state-laws/ [3] https://business.safety.google/controllerterms/ [4] https://business.safety.google/gdprcontrollerterms/sccs/eu-c2c/ [5] https://support.google.com/cloud/contact/maps_api_privacy © 2023 Google LLC 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 You have received this mandatory service announcement to update you about important changes to Google Maps Platform or your account.
