As of Thursday, August 3, the preferential lane on via Portuense, a corridor reserved for buses about 1,600 meters long, from largo Gaetano La Loggia to via Giuseppe Belluzzo, is active.
"It is another measure that benefits the commercial speed of public transport," said Mobility Councillor Eugenio Patanè, "which is one of the aspects that is most important to our Administration because it affects both the competitiveness of local public transport compared to the private car, and Atac's budget. The preferential route on via Portuense is a very important infrastructure available to the western areaq of the city, which will make it possible to decrease the travel time of several bus lines (228-718-719-786-786F and n719) that connect neighborhoods such as: Corviale, via delle Vigne, Trullo, and Magliana Vecchia to tram 8, Trastevere and Ostiense stations and Metro B while also transiting the Spallanzani hospital hub, a facility of national importance."
"To explain the enormous importance of the work, " Patanè concluded, "suffice to say that on that section of Via Portuense affected by the opening of the preferential lane, about 500 bus runs that pass by everyday, reduced travel time allowing greater reliability and regularity in addition to stops that are all accessible to passengers with reduced mobility will be enabled."
Stops will be made within the preferential lane:
